The month of Jeth
Jeth is the hottest stretch of the year in Punjab, with dry loo winds and temperatures often above 45°C. Farmers prepare their fields for paddy and wait for the pre-monsoon showers.
Jeth in the Barah Maha
On Sangrand, gurdwaras hold a special diwan where the verse for the new month from Guru Arjan Dev Ji's Barah Maha in Raag Majh is read. The Jeth verse describes the longing to meet the Lord, before whom all bow, and the soul that stays close to Him through the virtues it gathers.
