The month of Maghar
Maghar brings the first real cold. Wheat sowing is completed, fog begins to settle in the mornings, and the days are at their shortest towards the end of the month.
Maghar in the Barah Maha
On Sangrand, gurdwaras hold a special diwan where the verse for the new month from Guru Arjan Dev Ji's Barah Maha in Raag Majh is read. The Maghar verse praises the beauty of those who sit with the Beloved, adorned with His love, as the months of winter begin.
