The month of Sawan
Sawan brings the monsoon. Fields fill with water, swings go up in courtyards, and women and girls gather for Teeyan, singing boliyan and dancing giddha.
Sawan in the Barah Maha
On Sangrand, gurdwaras hold a special diwan where the verse for the new month from Guru Arjan Dev Ji's Barah Maha in Raag Majh is read. In the Sawan verse, the rain makes the mind bloom for those who love the Name, as the earth turns green when the clouds pour down.
